Restored & Upgraded 1989 Austin Mini 1000cc - Beautiful Condition
Being comprehensively rebuilt throughout a four year period by a Mini enthusiast George who’m has built more Mini’s than he can surely remember, this is a very nice example of a classic Mini. Such restoration was completed two years ago and she was supplied to one of our clients via ourselves and such client has used and enjoyed her regularly, covering around 1000 miles since the restoration.
Driving beautifully and having had her engine professionally tuned, we have optimised her power and she will be close to the factory 39hp output. Such output when combined with her 800kg weight and exceptional renowned rally winning handling provides for terrific and/or terrifying fun. Having a brake servo as standard (improves braking efficiency significantly) and new disc brakes, hoses and fluid you can have more confidence on the road.
She will be supplied with twelve months MOT and no advisories for your peace of mind. She will also be supplied fully serviced so that you have nothing to worry about and can just enjoy her. The service includes new NGK spark plugs, Silicone HT leads and Millers Classic Mini Oil and filter. The service also includes a new electronic ignition and coil to ensure her reliability with the electronic ignition being a common upgrade to improve reliability from standard. Other new parts include a new radiator, slave cylinder and various switches etc etc.
Underneath she is solid with new floors and new correct vented sills so that you can have peace of mind that she’s not your usual Mini rot box. Having been undersealed recently, you can drive her with certainty that she will be protected.
Outside, she is upgraded with four iconic 10” lightweight Revolution alloy wheels with the premium Yokohama tyres (much more expensive and grippy than standard) wrapped around them, Revolution Alloys being founded in 1967 remain one of the most iconic classic British alloy wheels. Otherwise most of her chrome work is brand new and lovely and shiny. All her spotlights are brand new but are for show and haven’t been wired up (really easy to do). Having had all new panels where necessary and lovely shiny paintwork she stands out.
Inside the vast majority of her interior has been upgraded. Upgrades include new seats and door cards replacing the standard velour, new alloy door fixtures and chrome Cooper gear knob replacing the usual plastic fixtures and a recently new headlining which is nice and clean as well as factory optional rear seatbelts. Most impressive, however is her upgraded steering wheel which combines wood and chrome with great craftsmanship to create a pure sixties feel, these are very expensive. Her seats are dyed black and could benefit from re-dying a little in some small places.
Condition
This is an excellent example of a classic Mini but my job is to be critical, so here critical goes. There is a stone chip on her drivers door which really we should have touched in before the photographs, but we wanted to show you in the video. It's very minor. There are tiny bubbles hidden in the usual position behind the rear bumper but you would unlikely notice and could be repainted for no more than £150 (but I don't think you would bother). Everything is excellent underneath (see the picture) but there is a small weld on her subframe which is bizarre because otherwise it looks recently new.
History
Being a Sky Rose limited edition, she was originally one of just 1000 limited edition Mini’s marketed to young hipsters as a classical fashion accessory.
Unfortunately with all great things tragedy befell her when she was ten years old in 1999 and she was involved in a minor accident. What do we know about the accident? We don’t know the exact extent of it but we do know that her total value at the time was around £800-£1000 and it was a category D accident which means the cost of repairing any damage would have been more than £400-500 but no more than £800-1000 as such would have given her a higher category. So relatively very minor.
Whilst you should consider any previous bump when buying a car, you may feel that in the context of it being a minor bump, that just about every part has since been reconditioned or replaced during a restoration and that after 33 years many cars will have had a minor bump (registered or not), you may feel that it bears little significance.
