Being first built and registered by Pilgrim Motorsports on the 23rd of August 1981; this is a very rare Historically Classified example of Pilgrim Motorsports' AC Cobra Sumo MKII 2000cc which was correctly registered as a "Ford Cobra Sumo" in 1981.
Being a correctly registerred Historically Classified vehicle she is unlike many Cobra’s; both road legal and eligible for free road tax, she does not require an MOT test and she can proudly wear the correct early black and silver aluminium prefix number plates, opposed to the later white and yellow number plates using the Q initial. She is also more easily exportable.
Having been owned for over ten years by her previous elderly keeper, she then passed via the owners son to a good friend of our company.Comprehensively Restored
Throughout the last 12 months she has been expertly restored. Such restoration included a brand new Cobra side exit exhaust to roar through, four massive Cooper Cobra tyres to spin and lots of new chrome and aluminium brightwork. More importantly, the restoration included a comprehensive mechanical restoration which has left her driving beautifully and precisely with all of the exciting handling of the Cobra. Such mechanical restoration included but is not limited to; a comprehensive service of all oils and filters including engine, gearbox and differential, a new cam-belt and a new ignition system including a new Weber 32/36 carburettor, electronic ignition, spark plugs and leads etc. Furthermore, she has had a brake service including all new lines, a suspension service with new poly bushes and new SPAX adjustable dampers and a cooling system service with a new aluminium radiator and heater matrix. Also a bluetooth sound system hidden under her dash to maintain her historic appearance. Yesterday she passed her MOT with no advisories to give you peace of mind, albeit such MOT was not legally required due to her historic status.Condition
Not only is she mechanically perfect and beautiful and very exciting to drive but her shell is perfect with no cracking and minimal age related imperfections, having covered just 8500 miles. Underneath her chassis and doors are solid. She is HPI clear and hasn’t been involved in any accidents.Being Picky
Her front number plate needs to be relocated to make it legal, either to the normal spot or as a black and silver bonnet sticker (we can do this). Also, she comes with a tonneau cover but no soft top (albeit the fixings are present). Throughout our experience many of our clients do not use their soft tops as they are hard to fit, oppressively cramped and let’s face it; ugly. On the rare occasion that they drive their Cobra in the rain they trust in the interiors waterproofing or have more creative measures. That being said, Pilgrim Motorsport (who’m built the Cobra) supply a brand new soft top and a brand new frame for £600 plus VAT, if you did require one.Want to See More Photographs & a Walkaround Video? If you would like to see extra photographs and a walkaround video then do please copy and paste the following link to our website into your browser https://www.gbminigarage.co.uk/ynh and there is also a video on Youtube which can be found by using the following link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ClOgahC8_w

We guarantee that your Mini will be mechanically perfect at the time of the sale. Mechanically perfect means that your Mini will be roadworthy with a recent MOT, that everything on your Mini will work correctly and that your Mini will be ready to enjoy.
However, it is important to note that Mini's are classic cars opposed to brand new cars, classic cars will have wear and tear on all parts opposed to being built to a new standard and accordingly they will require ongoing maintenance and we cannot be held liable for any ongoing maintenance after the time of the sale. That being said, we have a dedicated phone line to assist you in maintaining your Mini and sourcing replacement parts.
