Originally purchased from a market leading Jaguar dealership for £20,000, a further huge amount has then been invested to create and finish what is a marvellous example.

This included the rebuilding of her engine, the rebuilding of her gearbox and the rebuilding of her torque converter, it included the renewal or upgrading of many or most of her mechanical parts, it also included the pristine restoration of her woodwork, of her chrome work and her wonderful under carriage. Then she had over £5000 of period upgrades including the beautiful rumbling stainless steel exhaust system and the Lumenition easy start coil pack, the unleaded head conversion and the addition of chrome wire wheels wrapped in the correct Avon Steel Radial Tyres. The photographs speak for themselves in terms of condition.

Being behind her wheel is wonderful, like time traveling back to the sixties, all the love and money invested was worth while. The Daimler’s lightweight 250 V8 was always renowned for it’s power, it’s responsiveness and it’s handling capabilities. Her odometer reads 59,000, her engine has done just 1750 miles and her gearbox 250 miles, I think that makes her low mileage.

Daimler enthusiasts will note that she is of the early marque, she is the sought after “big bumper”, “proper leather” model made before the cost cutting, slimline bumper, Ambler fake leather “facelift”. Daimler enthusiasts will also appreciate her provenance, her humongous history folder, complete with maintenance records and service books, mot’s and tax discs, original marketing materials and instructions, she even has all of the expensive tools, often lost.

She’s been a relatively well known car, she’s the poster car on Wikipedia and her proud owner is a well known engine tuner in the classic car scene. Before him, she was owned by his long standing client and he just fell in love. I can see why this car stands out, Jaguar MK2 looks with more luxury and more comfort, more power, more responsiveness and better handling, plus that iconic Gunmetal Metallic colour pallet works so well…

The pickiest of punters might note a mark on her removable rear wheel fender (easily resolved) or some small micro dots on her roof paintwork maybe, possibly point out that her leatherwork and carpets remain original and are not restored or recovered, albeit I love their soulful originality and classical charm which you may feel is always lost with recovered seats.

Being a historical motor vehicle you get free road tax, you can drive in the ULEZ for free and you even get MOT exemption. She has always been MOT’d prior to Jim’s ownership, however Jim being a classic car specialist has chosen to maintain her himself. Being Jim's car, we are just acting as a middle man in advertising her for him.

So this is your chance to own this beautiful, low mileage, high provenance example of the sought after early marque, an example with a rebuilt engine, gearbox and mechanics, with rebuilt wood work and chrome work, with lovely rust free bodywork and under carriage.
