1993 Rover Mini 1275cc - 26,000 Miles

This is a significantly restored 1993 classic Rover Mini with just 26,000 miles that retains it’s factory-fitted and matching-numbers, highly sought-after 1275cc carburettor-powered engine and manual-gearbox which provide raw power and smooth shifting.

The Mini has much new metalwork, cutting out and replacing previous rust, it will be supplied with 12 months MOT and a HPI clear certificate, comprehensively serviced and professionally tuned, many, if not most braking and suspension parts have been replaced with new, plus new-chrome-work. It has had a significant restoration.

The MOT should be completed within 48-hours. Car people will appreciate a picky MOT inspector and it failed its first on the emissions, a loose brake-light-wire and an advisory for a partially worn tyre. All will be rectified and she will be sold with no-advisories.

This is my personal-passion-project, albeit I urgently need funds, hence the price. Below I have given an extended description of her mechanics, new metal-work, restoration and background.

Factory Fitted, Matching Numbers, 1275cc Manual Carburettor Engine w/ 26,000 Miles

She retains her original, factory-fitted and matching-numbers, 1275cc high-performance engine. This is the sought-after carburettor-variant, giving you the sounds and the smells of the sixties and the manual gearbox, the one to have. This is her original-engine, it’s done 26,000 miles and appears un-modified and un-molested, retaining its original factory engine number plaque. Her engine starts first-time, drives smoothly and powerfully through all the gears, without any hesitation or un-toward noises. On the road it’s terrific and/or terrifying dependant on speed and corners, combining raw classic power with a minimum power-to-weight ratio and that legendary, Monte Carlo rally-winning classic Mini handling.

We have fully and comprehensively serviced her engine and gearbox, coolant and fuelling system. The coolant system was not only flushed, but had a new radiator, water-pump and thermostat. She now idles happily for long-periods (left her running for 30 minutes at stand still with perfect temperature) and does not overheat. We also took her to a well known company to have her carburettor, timing and tappets professionally tuned, optimising her power and fuel efficiency, we are repeating this tomorrow to double check the emissions.

(b) New Metalwork

Metal-work rust was chopped-out and replaced with new metal panel-work (complete panels), to include a complete new front-end, amongst a various new panel-work. See the photographs of the underneath, lovely and solid.

All of the window seals were replaced with new to ensure watertightness, she is the factory fitted sunroof model and the sunroof doesn’t leak and is fully functional. All glass-work is factory fitted and registration etched, including the sunroof.

The paint is a little flat in places with marks. With the livery you don’t overly notice it unless close. It hasn’t been properly flatted after paint and areas may polish up (I haven’t tried).

(c) The Restoration

Many or most of her consumable mechanical parts have been replaced with new, this included braking components and suspension. When you drive her she drives lovely, no knocks or bumps, you appreciate all the new parts.

(d) Her Background

This Mini was first registered on the 27th of November 1993 and we're advised used for just over 8 years before being taken off the road in May 2002 (last tax disc in the window and no DVLA records of use). It was then hidden-away throughout the majority of her life. An elderly gent, retired from a professional welding back-ground, purchased her relatively recently and did all of the above panel-works and 80% of the mechanical works, before becoming ill and being unable to finish-her.

Via a classic car dealership, I took over the torch as a personal project and brought her to what will be a road-going MOT standard. I now need to raise funds quickly, hence the sale and the price.
