1990 Rover Mini Cooper

This is a genuine example of a Cooper, one of John Coopers special limited-run factory built performance range, taking on the periods BMW’s M Cars and Audi’s S.

This is a phenomenal collectors level example that has done just 2,200 miles since a complete restoration (to include performance engine and gearbox rebuild) and just 52,000 miles from new.

One of those vehicles you can’t help but to be proud to own, in marvellous mechanical and aesthetic condition with a wonderful ownership history, I have expanded upon these below.

  • Mechanically Rebuilt & Upgraded

Rebuilding her original, factory-fitted and matching-numbers special Cooper engine and gearbox just 2,200 miles previously, these remain like new.

Upgrading her Cooper power with a Mini Sport Cooper S Stage 3 Head (£1800 today), with a High-Lift Cam-Shaft and LCB Manifold exhaust system, tons more power is unlocked. On the road she is raw, combining a unique power to weight ratio with that legendary, Monte Carlo rally winning, classic Mini handling.

Many and most other parts were renewed, but key check-boxes include a new clutch and new tyres, new servo and new braking components etc.

Readying her for yourself we have; arranged a recent MOT with no advisories and comprehensively serviced her engine and gearbox, brakes and cooling system, we then took her to a well known carburettor tuning company to optimise her power and fuel efficiency.

  • Aesthetic Restoration

Without significant blight or any bubbles, her coachwork has depth and shine, the iconic Old English White colour-combination works so well.

Car-people only will appreciate the significance of what I am about to say; whilst this paintwork appears relatively new, it’s actually ten-years aged, it’s retention and quality standing testament to the exceptional preparation underneath, being evidence of it’s reliability moving forward; this isn’t a Mini that will rust-away before your eyes.

At the same time she was fitted with all window-seals and chrome-work, with the iconic Sportspack and new thirteen-inch deep-dish alloy-wheels, giving her this striking stance and width to height ratio. A new Biscuit Beige interior was fitted, a new dash with extra-gauges and new carpets and headlining.

Looking-underneath, totally solid, from her sub-frame to her floors, see the pictures underneath.

  • Ownership History

Owned for six years by a local gentleman, the Mini has been meticulously maintained, used sparingly. Purchased originally from a collector (imagine garages filled with classic super-cars), this is a collectors car. There is no history of accidents or anything untoward. The only thing to note is that her mileage was reset from 50,000 to 0 in 2016 when she was restored (not something that I would do personally, but certainly a cultural ceremony many restorers opt-for). Her private registration is actually original and factory-fitted, included within the sale, very much part of her identity.
